Race Setup

Bahrain opened the 2022 season with an amazing result for Ferrari, with Charles winning and Carlos finishing in second. In contrast to Ferrari’s perfect day, Red Bull had the worst possible outcome, with neither car finishing the Grand Prix.

How to drive without traction control F1 22

Watch on

Aerodynamics

Front Wing Aero – 20

Rear Wing Aero – 27

F1 22 Setups - F1Setups (26)

With the new aero settings, we are recommending 20-27 wing angles here. We found this kept the car fast down the straights, with just enough stability to get us through the corners. If you are struggling with grip, try increasing the rear wing, but be aware you may find it harder to overtake. Most often in Bahrain we find the rear is loose, so be aware of that around the longer corners.

F1 22 Setups - F1Setups (27)

Transmission

Differential Adjustment On Throttle – 80%

Differential Adjustment Off Throttle – 60%

Transmission is a critical area of the setup for traction, affecting acceleration, grip, rotation, tyre wear, and drivability. Increasing the On Throttle Differential will make the car more stable on acceleration, however, will increase tyre wear. Here in Bahrain we will use 80%/60%. This will aid stability in longer corners and should help protect the tyres from excessive wear. Increasing rear diff will improve straight-line acceleration and stability on corner exits, however, will come with a cost on wear. If you are having trouble with the car spinning, try to keep a small amount of pressure on the gas rather than lifting off suddenly.

Suspension Geometry

Front Camber – -2.50°

Rear Camber – -2.00°

Front Toe – 0.05°

Rear Camber – 0.20°

F1 22 Setups - F1Setups (28)

Geometry adjustments mainly impact grip and tire wear, however on F1 22, like its predecessor, most circuits suit the same settings! Stick with high front camber, and low everything else in this section for best results.

Suspension

F1 22 Setups - F1Setups (29)

Front Suspension – 10

Rear Suspension – 3

Front Anti-Roll Bar – 10

Rear Anti-Roll Bar – 3

Front Ride Height – 3

Rear Ride Height – 4

Suspension adjustments impact responsiveness and stability through corners. This is probably the most important area of the setup, so if you are struggling with rotation then the anti-roll bars are where you should start. Ride height plays a much more important role this year, so the keep the rear high to avoid the diffuser bottoming out at high speed. Floor damage can ruin performance, so a higher than usual ride height here should help protect those delicate aerodynamic surfaces.

Brakes

Brake Pressure – 100%

Front Brake Bias – 50%

For players on controller, brake pressure adjustments can have minimal impact. If you use ABS, maintain 100% brake pressure. Otherwise, see above.

F1 22 Setups - F1Setups (30)

F1 22 Setups - F1Setups (31)

Tyres

Front Right Tyre Pressure – 23.2 psi

Front Left Tyre Pressure – 23.2 psi

Rear Right Tyre Pressure – 22.5 psi

Rear Left Tyre Pressure – 22.5 psi

Tyre pressures can have a huge impact on wear and traction. Typically high rear pressures and lower front pressures are the way to go, however increasing front pressures here will result in faster lap times. You will pay in front wear, but if you are finding this not to be an issue then increase to around 24.5psi.

Hotlap Setup

This is the fastest F1 22 Setup available, and will ensure you rise to the top of the time trial leaderboards. F1 2022 is still new, so check back here in the future for faster and faster setups. Generally this setup will be quick over one lap, so it’s ideal for time trial, or even qualifying, but be aware it is not designed to be run over a race distance, so don’t expect your tyres to last very long!

Aerodynamics

Front Wing Aero – 29

Rear Wing Aero – 25

A much higher front Aero setting here to keep the front tyres glued to the surface at Bahrain. Bear in mind that you will pay with increased tyre wear with this setup, it’s best for qualifying laps or time trial on F1 22.

F1 22 Setups - F1Setups (32)

F1 22 Setups - F1Setups (33)

Transmission

On Throttle Diff – 55%

Off Throttle Diff – 50%

Differential settings here similar to the race setup, but we have reduced both differential settings significantly. On throttle has come down to 55%, and the off throttle to 50%. This makes the car easier to rotate, meaning you can accelerate faster out of corners once the car is straight. It will be slightly more challenging to handle, but much quicker. Be cautious around the long turn 12, once the tyres start to wear it’s easy to find yourself heading towards a wall…

Suspension Geometry

Front Camber – -2.50°

Rear Camber – -1.00°

Front Toe – 0.05°

Rear Camber – 0.20°

F1 22 Setups - F1Setups (34)

Suspension adjustments impact responsiveness and stability through corners. F1 2022 is similar to F1 2021, and this section has similar impact. The right adjustments here can shave tenths off your lap times!

F1 22 Setups - F1Setups (35)

Suspension

Front Suspension – 7

Rear Suspension – 1

Front Anti-Roll Bar – 7

Rear Anti-Roll Bar – 1

Front Ride Height – 4

Rear Ride Height – 6

The suspension settings here are a bit softer than the race settings. A firm front, with a lot of give at the rear. This allows the rear of the car to take high cornering loads, but makes the front a little . Our advice here is to avoid riding over raised kerbs (the flat ones around turn 11 etc are generally ok, but be cautious about grip!) , and accelerate as early as possible on the way out of corners.

Brakes

Brake Pressure – 100%

Front Brake Bias – 50%

Maximum pressure here, but you can run ABS and not lose any time.

F1 22 Setups - F1Setups (36)

F1 22 Setups - F1Setups (37)

Tyre Pressure

Front Right Tyre Pressure – 25.0psi

Front Left Tyre Pressure – 25.0psi

Rear Right Tyre Pressure – 23.0psi

Rear Left Tyre Pressure – 23.0psi

An extreme setup here for maximum speed. Very fast, but very hot! Don’t expect your tyres to last longer than a few laps with these settings.
